Holographic Beauty of Lights and Festivals, Mirrored by the Pretty Paths' Reflections
Gleaming myriads of lights of many colours, bespeckling fantastic skyscrapers of uniquely complex design, this Minecraft Cyberpunk City is a work of beautified art.
Each structure tells a tale of its own. Wandering these futuristic streets inspired by Cyberpunk 2077. The floor itself mirrors everything above past layers of glass, creating the illusion of a watery surface. Up high, holographic birds flap their wings. Reigning over the futuristic city of lights and technology.
The City of Lights
Whenever I build, my number one priority is the result.
The image.
The feel of walking through the streets of a city and knowing it’s all given life. Lit up. Reminding you it’s real. No matter the style or theme presented, it must have glows at every corner.
For Cyberpunk this was doubly true. Carrying with it the immense challenge of creating light sources which felt diverse, in a game with only one lighting colour.
Pieces of the Minecraft Cyberpunk City
This meant a workaround was needed. Colours… I turned to concrete and stained glass, giving the illusion of coloured lighting. It’s Minecraft, so all the lighting is still yellow, but by fully utilising a wide collection of colours it tricks the eyes into seeing lighting that isn’t there.
Very little in these looks like yellow lighting, right?
This still needed to come across as a mix of natural and strange. Still looking believable enough you could imagine it in the future. Relying on billboards hanging out from the side of a building in the simplest of ways…
While incorporating peculiar shapes in others, to imply style varied between buildings.
Adding on a name tag for one, and faces for another. Breathing in life to the structures before the city came together at all.
Illusions
The whole city conveys a mix of lies and deceit, portraying false lighting, deceptive reflections and an overwhelming sense of colour.
A walk between these houses should feel like you’ve gotten lost in the middle of a giant hyper-advanced city. Everywhere you look are rows of houses, too tall to easily see past. You don’t know where you are or what you’re doing, and the city is too busy trying to market you products and distract you with lights to help out.
It feels alienating. There’s no-one else on foot. Everyone’s up there in their houses, with doors up above the ground. Busy with their flying cars and busses. Very rarely going anywhere near the watery surface of the ground.
Yet it’s pretty…
It’s lonely, you’re alone, and it’s still very, very pretty.
Make a Futuristic City!
Imagine: You pick a couple of these houses and scatter them to your desire. Placing them where you want. Incorporating them into your landscape and sitting back to watch the results. Perhaps dotting them around your server spawn for that science fiction highlight. Living up to the Minecraft Cyberpunk City aesthetic in full.
All the houses included here are available as Tier 1 builds on my Patreon. These don’t have interiors, but there’s plenty of room to hollow one out and make your own.
Can I download it?
The overall build itself is not downloadable. It’s for showcase purposes only, unlike the individual pieces. Though don’t hesitate to give it a go at making your own dazzling city in the process!
A fully accessible magnificent creation is Sailor’s Ruin, my Steampunk armada of ghost ships and pirates, complete with 3D models and hot air balloons with a terrifying skull in pursuit.
Alternatively, take a plunge into Epic Dungeons, Procedurally Generated for millions of new experiences every time in A Roguelike Minecraft. A mod overhauling the fun in exploration. I hear there’s a Cyberpunk City planned? Imagine that, naturally generating Cyberpunk cities, seamlessly included in survival. Where would they be? What might you find within? We’ll find out, eventually!
